What data does MeterMe process?
MeterMe processes the data you enter in the app or provide through integrations:
- Meter data for electricity, water, gas, oil, and custom meters, including readings, usage, tariffs, costs, and returns
- Location data within the app, such as a name and optional reference values
- Optional meter photos when you save photos of readings
- Optional Home Assistant connection data when you use this integration
Local storage
By default, data is stored locally on your device. You can export or delete it as CSV.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, we process your name, email address, selected app, and message to handle your request. The information is sent by email to our support inbox and deleted when support is no longer required, unless legal retention duties apply.
MeterShare – optional
When you share or join a location through MeterShare, location, meter, and measurement data are transferred and stored via Apple CloudKit so sharing can work.
MeterShare uses Apple private and shared CloudKit databases managed through your Apple ID and the invited participants’ iCloud accounts.
To share a location, we process the required location information, meter data, readings, usage and measurement data, and related cost and return data.
This processing is used only to provide and synchronise shared locations. Apple may process technical connection data such as your IP address. Transfers are encrypted; Apple’s privacy policy applies for details.
Home Assistant – optional
If you use Home Assistant, required credentials such as the URL and access token are stored only locally on your device in the Apple Keychain. We do not share them with us or third parties.
Always use access tokens with the minimum permissions required.
AI-assisted analysis
MeterMe uses AI-assisted analysis to put usage and cost data into context, for example as “low” or “high”. We use ChatGPT for this.
Only abstracted usage data without personal or device references is sent to the AI service. This can include location size, number of people, general usage characteristics such as working from home or solar power, and aggregated usage and cost data.
No personal data, device identifiers, or unique location data is transferred. It is not possible to identify a specific person or device.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have rights including access, correction, deletion, and data portability. Contact us using the details above.
